Open footwear converting straps

It started on a sweltering summer afternoon in Jerusalem. I was wearing my favorite leather flip-flops—comfortable for a stroll, but useless the moment I had to run to catch a bus. Between the humidity and the sprint, the lack of a heel strap made the dash nearly impossible. On the train ride back, I began searching for a solution and realized that a gap existed in the market: there were no stylish, high-quality ways to transform open footwear into a secure, performance-ready sandal without permanently altering the shoe.

That same evening, I sketched the initial mechanism for a "magical" horizontal strap and created the first pilot versions. Over the following months, I obsessed over the engineering—perfecting the geometry of the attachment and testing numerous iterations of hook-and-loop textures to ensure a "lock-in" feel that doesn't damage the original sandal’s structure.

Today, SandaLatchets (תפסנדל) is the final result of those countless upgrades. As someone who lives in open footwear year-round, I now carry them everywhere. They’ve given me exactly what I was looking for: the freedom of a sandal with the full mobility and security of a shoe, ensuring I’m never caught off guard—even if I have to run for the next bus.
